Wade Mansfield

Name: Wade Mansfield

Wade is 38 years old and grew up in Caruthersville, Missouri. He is married with two daughters and one on the way. Growing up on the Mississippi river and not far from Reelfoot Lake, he has fished competitively since 1986, winning various local tournaments. Wade started fishing the circuit full-time in 2004. Since that time, he has had over 20 top ten finishes. He has also won five “Big Fish” tropies. Wade and his fishing partner have placed in the top five in the points race the past two years. His sponsors include: American Angler, Grizzly Jig Co., Perotti Bilt and MonsterCrappie.com.

There are several types of fishing Wade enjoys. He specializes in Grizzly fishing, slow-trolling, long-lining and trolling with crank baits. He has fished all over the United States and in Mexico, South America and the Middle East. His knowledge of the sport of fishing has earned him a spot on the Crappie Master Advisory Board.

When he is not fishing a tournament, Wade is part-owner of Grizzly Jig Company. Their store is a big hit when it comes to crappie fishing. Along with adapting new products for the industry, they are currently working with the Missouri Department of Conservation to promote youth fishing. Griz Lake will be introduced to the public in several months. It will be primarily a youth catch and release lake to promote the sport to area children.

Wade has also had many past accomplishments. He served in the army for six years where he served in both Panama and the Persian Gulf. He is the past chair for the local Ducks Unlimited Committee, past president of the Caruthersville Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Caruthersville Downtown Betterment Committee.
